Committee Members


The Greenwich LINk's Executive Committee is the decision making core of the LINk. The primary role of the Executive Committee will be to steer LINk activities in order to deliver the agreed LINk Workplan. The Executive Committee will work collaboratively with LINk Participants to involve and engage as many individuals and groups as possible when carrying out its functions and will be accountable and answerable to the Network and its participants. Members were publicly elected at the Greenwich LINk AGM on the 30th June 2010. The Greenwich LINk currently have 7 members on their Executive Committee.

Mike Astbury
'I have lived in Eltham for 30 years. I have a wealth of experience from my business background and can relate up to board level. I have also experienced life on the 'user' side and can relate to clients from varied backgrounds and conditions.'

Balbir Singh Bakhshi
'I am an ex-diplomat and ex-member of the PPI Forum. Presently, I am the Chairman of Greenwich Homestart and a trustee in three multi-faith forums; Greenwich, South London and Bexleyheath.'

Colin Brown (co-opted)
'I am the C.E.O of Blind Independence Greenwich my job very fulfilling and it gives me the opportunity for help improve the lives of blind and partially sighted people in the Borough of Greenwich. I worked for Action for blind people as their visual awareness/disability manager.'

Sheila Freeman - Chair
'I am a member of several steering groups dealing with local issues. I have spent 25 years running a careers information service for the University of London, based at a local college. I have spent 5 years within the NHS local hospital dealing with communication systems and publicity.'

Frances Hook
'I have worked in the NHS, both in hospitals and in the community as a nurse and a midwife all my working life. I am interested in all aspects of health and have been active in the politics of health.'

Sabiha Shahzad - Vice Chair
'I am the representative for West Greenwich on the Government Community Network. I am also the Chair of UK Online and Hamara Asra. I have worked in the community for 20 years.'

Greg Ussher (co-opted)
